Stephen Moyer in Jan (x)

Stephen Moyer as seductive movie star in “Jan”

[caption id=”attachment_26905” align=”alignnone” width=”480” caption=”Stephen in a scene with Caitlin Gerard”][/caption]

The first film from WIGS has premiered called “Jan” and it stars our own Stephen Moyer.

Stephen plays movie star Gerald Noth who walks into Jan’s life during her first job as assistant photographer. But he is not there to be photographed…. he’s got a whole other job to do. Stephen’s wardrobe did not put a strain on the production’s budget, since he is dressed only in a towel in this episode.

Synopsis
JAN: Episode 1 of 15 — “First Job”:
Jan (Caitlin Gerard) assists renowned photographer Mel Karpova (Virginia Madsen) who is shooting movie star Gerald Noth (Stephen Moyer) and his girlfriend Andie (Jaime Murray). Jan makes one blunder after another until she’s convinced her first day will be her last.

I thought this first installments of “Jan” were clever, funny and sexy. Watch for yourself and stay tuned for more episodes later this week.

Stephen Moyer Talks To the Guardian about True Blood and More

Stephen Moyer was interviewed last week by the The Guardian/Observer about what he’s doing these days.

He talks about looking forward to attending the boxing in Vegas last Saturday, attending the White House Correspondent’s Dinner, and about his new film Spitfire, which turns out is being produced by his and Anna Paquin’s production company, Scamp.

He also talks about looking for a house in London and about becoming a father once again.

Where are you and what are you doing?
I’m in Venice Beach, California, looking out at a grey day. There are good waves out there but it’s too cold to go into the water, even for an Essex boy. My 12-year-old son’s been over for the Easter holidays and we did that classic British seaside thing of running in, screaming like wusses and running straight back out again.

The fourth series of True Blood sees your character Bill Compton become king of the vampires. What are the perks?
He gets access to the best blood in Louisiana. All the haemophiliacs step forward and offer themselves. As king, Bill also inherits a cellar full of quality blood, passed down the generations like vintage wine. I love that idea.

Episode two includes a flashback to the early 80s and Bill’s a punk in Camden. Was it filmed on location there?
Sadly not, it was shot in north London-ish Pasadena. But it was fun, reverting to my English accent and playing a punk. It’s what I would’ve been in 1982 had I been a little bit older. Our set decorator Billy is from London and used to play in a punk band. So in the pub scene, that’s his band, playing a song Billy wrote. That was a cool day.

Fiona Shaw joined the cast as queen witch Marnie. How was working with her?
Amazing. Fiona had an absolute ball and someone of that calibre raises the bar. She’s such a fantastic, professional presence to have on-set. And Anna [Paquin, Moyer’s co-star and now wife] knew Fiona because they’d worked together 16 years ago on Zeffirelli’s Jane Eyre. (Laughs) There’s very few people who Anna hasn’t worked with actually, she’s been around that long. [Paquin won an Oscar aged 11 for The Piano].

Do you have a “no shoptalk at home” rule?
Well, we shoot eight months of the year and put in long hours. So we talk about work for the first bit, but by month six you’re crawling along on stumps and it’s the last thing you want to discuss. Although Sookie and Bill aren’t together now, so we don’t spend nearly as much time together on set as we used to. Often one’s at work and the other’s at home. We miss that camaraderie. Occasionally we do have a scene together, with all the crew who’ve been with us since day one, and it’s just like family. We get back to ribbing each other very quickly. It’s tit-for-tat banter.

You have two children from a previous marriage but yours and Anna’s first child is due this autumn. Are you out of practice with babies?
A bit. Anna’s brother’s got two wee ones, so we see them a lot and I keep my hand in, but it’s nice to give them back after a few hours. I can wave goodbye to that now. (Laughs) I’m kind of dreading it but excited as well.

You’ve been spotted house-hunting in Hampstead. Is a move back to Blighty imminent?
I’ve always had a little house in Highgate. I spend as much of the summer there as I can and come back for Christmas. But we need more space now. It’s funny how word spreads. Your friends see some story claiming you’re looking at £1.7m houses and ring up going, “Dude, how much?” I’m surprised I haven’t had Foxtons on the phone.

You’re from Brentwood originally. Ever stave off homesickness by watching The Only Way Is Essex?

I think I was the only person from Brentwood who read the Guardian and the Observer. I’ve never seen an episode of TOWIE. Very disloyal of me. I’ve still got lots of friends there. A bunch of boys from Brentwood are arriving today, in fact. We’re all going to the Mayweather fight in Vegas.

Do you feel like you’re letting your home town down by being so pale on television?
(Laughs) Funnily enough, me and Alan Ball [True Blood’s creator] have talked about putting in a scene where the vampires go to spray-tan booths, so they can blend in and look normal. I’ve also been nagging him to write a scene with a bunch of us sat around reading magazines in a dentist’s waiting room.

Brit actors are all the rage on US TV. Do you have an ex-pat community?
Kind of. Jack Davenport’s a good friend of mine. He lives just round the corner but he’s off in New York now doing Smash! We met 15 years ago doing another vampire show, funnily enough.

Channel 4’s Ultraviolet? Something of a lost classic…

Yes! I completely agree. The only thing that isn’t lost and classic about that show is my hair. Man, there was a lot of it. I would’ve given Fenella Fielding a run for her money.

You dined at the White House recently, how was that?
Yes, for the Correspondents’ Dinner. We went last year as well and that was even crazier. Not only did we find out that President Obama’s a huge True Blood fan but the press secretary took us for a tour of the White House and it turned out the whole place was on lockdown. We later found out that while we were there Obama was downstairs in the situation room watching the attack on Bin Laden’s compound. You know that famous photo of them all watching the raid? Well, I was right above their heads looking at the Norman Rockwell paintings in the Oval Office. This year we sat with Daniel Day-Lewis and Dakota Fanning. The attorney general came over and asked to have his picture taken with me. Luckily he didn’t ask me to bite his neck for the pic, like a lot of True Blood fans. That would’ve been awkward.

You and Anna have a production company called Scamp. What are you working on?
We’re putting a film together which will hopefully shoot in London later this year. It’s called Spitfire. I’ll be starring in it. It’s a Pulp Fiction-esque story about assassins.

Are you going to miss the Olympics?
Hope not. True Blood season five finishes shooting next month and I’m desperately trying to get Spitfire together in time so that I’ll have an excuse to be over in London in late July. I’m hoping the stars align because I desperately want to be there when it’s all happening.

Stephen Moyer to star in comedy thriller ‘Spitfire’

According to Variety Stephen has signed up for the comedy thriller ‘Spitfire’.

The film tells the story of the London underworld that is imploding. An American mobster has placed a bid to takeover the UK’s lucrative cocaine import business, and now everyone from low-life gangsters to corrupt cops, international hitmen, and film industry dope dealers are baring their teeth. They’re all looking to sell out and it’s heading for a dogfight as they double cross and triple cross each other in their scramble for the five million pound cash prize. When the smoke clears, those lucky enough to still be alive are going to have to stay in the game if they want to keep breathing and get away with the loot…cause it ain’t over till it’s over.

According to Audrey Delaney of the sales agent Lightning Entertainment’s “Actors really are the tipping points in any package, Stephen has a real fan base so we know this can sell.”

The film will be directed by Jake West (Doghouse, Evil Aliens) and will be shot in the UK during Stephen’s summer hiatus.

We’ve always wanted to see Stephen in a comedy, so this should be interesting.

Michael McMillian Talks about Stephen Moyer Behind the Camera

Those of us here at AllStephenMoyer aren’t surprised at all to hear the praises coming from the cast members who have worked with Stephen Moyer as a director on True Blood. Recently, I interviewed both Janina Gavankar and Carolyn Hennesy and both praised his skills.  Even Lauren Bowles tweeted about it.  When I met Alexander Woo at a party, he also said Stephen will be great in the job and we posted about it here. Now Giana Sobel from Inside True Blood’s Blog asked Michael McMillian, who plays Steve Newlin, what it’s like to work with Moyer in such a different capacity (as the director of Season 5, Episode 8) and he had quite a bit to say:

“It’s clear Stephen has a deep appreciation for these characters and a need to dig into things a little deeper than usual to find the truth in each scene. He has a natural talent for directing. He’s really in his element behind the camera and brings a playful and wicked sense of humor with him. It was fun working with him. I felt like the parents had left town and our cool big brother was in charge of all us kids. He took his role seriously, but still managed to throw us a party.”

Stephen Moyer Hints at More Trouble for Bill Compton in Season 5

In this newspaper advertisement for HBO Canada, Stephen Moyer discusses Season 5. He talks about the fact that True Blood has veered away from the books by necessity. He says that there’s the Vampire Authority and lots going on for shapeshifters and he also talks about the Bill and Sookie relationship saying:

Some might see him as a bastard for what he’s done or lied about, but my take is that Bill has always tried to do the right thing for her.

Brit Morgan Talks to Inside True Blood’s Blog and Reveals She is “Team Bill!”

As we all know, Brit Morgan will no longer be on True Blood since her character of Debbie Pelt was killed in the finale of Season 4.  We enjoyed seeing Brit do such a good job of playing Debbie and she will be missed. Gians Sobel of Inside True Blood’s Blog talked to Brit about it and her time playing Debbie in the short interview.

The biggest news for us was that Brit is completely “Team Bill.”  That girl has good taste, see below.

Gianna: Do you miss us?! We miss you! What do you miss the most about working on True Blood?
Brit: I miss you SO much!!! I really miss everything but what I miss most is the people. Being surrounded by such wonderful, talented people and feeling like a part of the family. And of course, I miss playing Debbie and looking forward to what new, exciting things I was going to get to do each episode!

Gianna: She was such a wild character. What went into creating her?
Brit: To prepare myself for Debbie, I researched a lot about addiction because it’s such a huge part of her life. I attended NA meetings every month and talked to different people about recovery and battling addiction. Through both seasons I kept a journal for her that I would write in to get into character and I made many CD’s of music that I thought she would like or that made me feel close to her. I rehearsed for every episode with my acting coach and watched some great documentaries on wolves!

Gianna: You had some pretty intense moments on the show – including your final one. What was the most trying scene you had to shoot?
Brit: I would say in the 4th season, there’s a scene were Alcide and Debbie are having sex and midway through she confronts him about his feelings for Sookie. It was challenging because it was a short scene with so much going on emotionally and at the same time I’d never done a sex scene before, so there were many things to juggle. It ended up going smoothly but I remember being nervous for about two weeks before I shot it.

Gianna: Who made you laugh the most on set?
Brit: There’s a lot of funny people, but I’m gonna go with Anna.

Gianna: Characters die on True Blood, but that doesn’t mean we never see them again. Any chance Debbie might rear her angry head?
Brit: I hope so!! Debbie might come back with vengeance, and if she does it won’t be pretty.

Gianna: And finally, the most important question: Team Eric or Team Bill?
Brit: Team Bill.
